On this first rainy Sunday in a while we published the beta of our new blog.
We consider sharing our ramblings both insightful as well as inspiring for our colleagues as well as ourselves. Not to mention a useful way to stay in touch with other community members.
However, it did take a while to finally make it realizable. It took a while to convince some co-workers. It took some complaining to accept that blogging at work is a way for more efficiency and productivity (oh, they sure know how to put it). Then it took a while to decide the right technology. Finally the decision was to give Blogengine.NET a chance.
Alternatives like Telligent's CommunityServer (bloated and slow) and the former used SharePoint blog template (big "no-no" by the designers) where quickly pushed aside. Blogengine.NET came out with its lightweight deployment, API compatibility and nice features which really works out-of-the-box.
Installation and setup didn't take longer than about 5 minutes. The biggest challenge lay with our designers to integrate the Securancy look & feel in the Blogengine.NET masterpage, but they did a great job. There are still some minor graphical issues to fix, but I personally expect them to be fixed within a week or so.
That aside, start writing!
